I get at least 10 emails every week with the same question – “What license keys do I need to install the trial version?” I thought instead of writing an individual response each time, I will write a blog post on it so as to settle this once and for all.
Watch this short video on how to activate trial version of QuickTest Pro. Please remember that you don’t need any license keys to activate your trial.
In this video we assume that you have already downloaded QTP, started installation and you’re on the penultimate screen of QTP’s installation process.
The method above is version agnostic and should work with all versions of QTP.

If any one had installed any qtp trail versions prior to qtp 11, make sure to clear the registry keys of qtp.so, one can be successfully able to re-install either same version or later ones.here are the steps to do that….
1)Goto Registry
a. Enter REGEDIT by clicking Start;Run.
b. Click CTRL+F.
c. Enter QTP* and Press Enter.
d. Delete all keys that are related to QTP.
NOTE : If you are not able to find the folders then
manually go to all locations and search the folders.
2) Delete the keys from the HKEY_local_machine in the
registry
1) Clssystem
2) MercuryInteractive
In the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
1) Remove Rainbow.SentinelLM
3) Uninstall QTP from add remove programs
4) Restart the System.
5) Goto registry and delete Mercury interactive from two
folders HKEY Current users and HKEY Local Machine
6) Install QTP
7) Restart the system

Hi, I’ve installed QTP 11 trial version. It works fine till recording any application. If i try to execute the recorded scripts, it throws the error, the test cannot be run due to unrecoverable error, specified module cannot be found, function(null) line(0)(null)

Is QTP is compatible with window 7 . Because I tried to install QTP 10 but it giving error for license problem.
For windows 7 try using QTP 11.0 but qtp 11.0 is not comptable with e 9 so u need to add pathch file released by hp else it won’t recognise web objects

We are currently using QTP 8.2 and Test Director and want to upgrade to QTP 10.x version. I wanted to know if we can use the same scripts or do we have to re script everything? Also, I would like to know what kind of issues we might face if we go ahead with the migration. We use descriptive programming and do not use the object repository. We dynamically identify the objects through programming. QTP is basically used to launch the test and execute it.

Workaround:
Right-click the CHM file in <QTP installation folder)\help, and click Properties.
In the dialog box that opens, click Unblock.

I downloaded QTPv11, the problem it does not record properly. when u record to open a flight simulation software it does not record the launching step i.e “SystemUtil.Run “C:\Program Files\HP\QuickTest Professional\samples\flight\app\flight4a.exe”,”",”C:\Program Files\HP\QuickTest Professional\samples\flight\app\”,”open”", it only records for other steps like entering values.
Please help if u know how i could resolve this issue or there is any settings i need to do.
Note: I installed QTP with full admin rights

I have installed QTP 9.2 and later uninstalled it. After that i try to reinstall 11 version, the error message ‘Error in applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid’ is displayed with some file name in parenthesis.

You have a great site! Like Murphy’s law, my QTP(Mercury Interactive from MegaUpload site) installation gave some problems. After that I tried for the repair, then some scripts run and some don’t .
I just want to clean up the whole thing and install it properly this time, so that I can practise. Please tell me how to uninstall completely & go for a new installation.
