Check out how QTP will look in 2009

QTP is getting an overhaul -yet-again. Will Roden from the Software Inquisition has recently attended HP Software Universe 2008 and has blogged about his experience here.
Here are some of the key points I like:

  • Addition of COM object and inner object intellisense. For the uninitiated, intellisense is Microsoft’s implementation of autocompletion feature.
    intellisense
  • Quality Center would be now more tightly integrated with QTP and also you will be able to manage QC from within QTP.
  • You might see some improvements in QTP reports like jumping directly from report to the corresponding script line and addition of more reporting formats like pdf and doc.
  • Next version would be most probably named QTP 10.0

So what are the new features you want to see in QTP’s next version?

Nice roadmap.

As for me, the biggest QTP’s feature would be a using of different programming languages. It will resolve many issues with VBScript’s limitations.

For example, TestComplete allows writing of automated tests using VBScript, JScript, Delphi Script, C++ and C#.

Agree with #1.

Using Java with QTP test object model would be a killer (including a cheaper license where only test object model is included).
