ABAP coding in QTP

Hi,
We are starting automation on SAP app.
We are able to do the front end record and playback.
I would like to do backend validations for the application.
We have Ecatt in which we can wite the query to get records and validate which would require us to do interface of qtp wit Ecatt or call QTP from Ecatt.
I would like to see if there is a way out to write the same query in QTP with some basic settings/coding in QTP.
Could someone help me in knowing if this is possible and if not any simpler way of doing the same validations.
Would appreciate faster solutions
