Validate default email client and send mail through OL/OE

I click on a button in the Web application page, which launches the default mail client's Compose page (could be Outlook or Outlook Express) with an email id populated in the "To" field. Need to validate if it is the right email id and then click on the 'Send' button in this page and finally revert to the Web application. Also, is there some VBscript command to check the default email client set for the machine/login user?
