Is there a function in QTP that will CLOSE all the GUI map files that are currently loaded or open.

I guess you are reffering to "Object Repositories". Yes, you can statically or dynamically handle the Object Repositories.

To handle them dynamically read,

ObjectRepositoryUtil and ObjectRepositories Collection object from QTP Help.
