Error when creating a checkpoint

Hello

I am new to qtp and doing some self learning using the tutorial and the mercury tours application.
I am trying to create a checkpoint in qtp and it gives me the following error:

Cannot create checkpoint
cannot identify the webedit. I tried this on a few objects and got the same error everytime.

Can anybody please suggest a solution.

sorry forgot to add I am using qtp 10.0 with web addin only selected.

which checkpoint you are trying to create? have you tried/sure that IE has been opened after starting QTP?
