Click Start->Run then type in %temp% and hit OK. Delete all files in the explore window. If any them won't delete reboot and try again.
Also search your hard drive for *.tmp files and delete them.
All Microsoft products create temp files and if you get one that is corrupted, it can cause some strange results.
