After QuickTest Professional Unplugged & And I Thought I Knew QTP, our QTP maestro Tarun Lalwani has come up with another book Descriptive Programming Unplugged . This time it is written in collaboration with Anshoo Arora. Tarun has kindly offered a review copy of this book to LearnQTP.
Here is a gist of what to expect from this book –
- First, it is not for absolute beginners of QTP or VBScript. It assumes you have basic knowledge of both. However, this book can be considered as an excellent supplement to your beginner’s QTP training classes.
- The book is neatly divided into 18 chapters with 480 pages.
- Object identification has always been a pet peeve of anybody who has worked on QTP. Addressing that concern, this time the duo has mainly focused on Object identification techniques.
- HP introduced Visual Relation identifiers with the introduction of QTP 11. There is an entire chapter dedicated on that concept.
- You will get to learn Object identification using XPath, CSS in detail.
- Not sure if it was the effect of my suggestion but Tarun and team chose to dedicate a chapter on Web Extensibility this time.
- The book focuses on practical approaches and the generic issues found in day to day working of the tool. As in the earlier books, there are nuggets hidden throughout.
- There are a lot of code snippets used throughout the book. These snippets can be downloaded from KnowledgeInbox
If I were the author I would have named it, Object Identification Unplugged 🙂 I have always whole heartedly recommended Tarun’s book to anyone who has ever asked me about ‘List of books on QTP’. This book will be an addition to that list.
Where can you buy this book from?
This book is available for $52.9 for people in US while for Rs 593 in India.
- If you are in India – You can buy this book from FlipKart
- If you are in US – You can buy this book from Amazon US
